I found the information provided in this course very valuable. It is due to the practical, down-to-earth book by Hal Urban. His strategies are so simple, yet so effective. This is a book I know I will refer to again and again.

I sincerely enjoyed the course. It gave me ideas to use in class. It gave me time for reflection on how to improve on things I do well and what to experiment with. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the real application by Mr. Urban. Time tested examples. I believe the classes I have taken have been helpful for my improvement. New tricks and proven strategies will be used to make my classroom a positive environment.

I am so glad I chose to take an independent study course through Educational Resources. I have found this course to be equally as valuable as the video courses. I felt as though every minute I spent on this course was worth my time. I especially loved the book by Hal Urban and I will be keeping it as a resource to use in my classroom.

I really enjoyed reading Mr. Urban’s book. I have served as a mentor several times over in my years of teaching. In my consideration, this should be the handbook for all teaching. It stresses over and over the subjects we teach are important but more importantly is the reality of how to deal with the world we live in and how we treat others. In my 33 years of teaching, this has become so much more important to teach as I feel we have slipped in many regards to these issues. Thank you, Mr. Urban and all the teachers ideas he used for this book. It was GREAT! The course was well organized and really helped me to evaluate how I teach and what I teach. I have my Master’s Degree plus several hours so I have taken my share of graduate courses. I would rate this as one of the best. One that all teachers should take and one that all beginning teachers should have at the very start of their careers.

From time to time, I believe that all educators need a little inspiration and reminder of why we do what we do and the concepts and strategies that can help make the whole educational process work better. Powerful Teaching has done just that, for me! This course has reminded me of why I teach, and the importance of making a difference. Ideas shared in this course have helped to renew me and get me excited about teaching again!

This course has been a wonderful opportunity to reflect on my own practices in the classroom. While I feel confident in my abilities and know that I make a difference very day, there are always ways to improve. Each of the 20 things presented in this book were relevant to my experience and challenged me to do even more. This book will be a great tool to share with colleagues new and old. We can all learn from Urban’s experiences. It is always exciting to be inspired after so many years in education – and this course has definitely inspired me! Thank you!

I thought this was a very powerful and beneficial course, because it rejuvenated me and gave me wonderful, positive ideas that I am excited to try and use in my classroom. The one thing I really liked about this course is that I was able to read and reread the book on my own time frame and it was filled with information that I will be able to make applicable to my own classroom as well as to my personal life.

This course was one of my favorites, although I have enjoyed all the courses I have taken through Educational Resources! This course gave me great lessons, strategies, and ideas that will help me become a better teacher. These are simple lessons that I can use in the first few weeks of school to make for a very successful year. It also gave me ways to bring back my own enthusiasm for teaching and gave me a list of great resources to help me.
